Does gravity exist?

Konstantin Meyl has described physics in terms of a Unified Field which can be thought of as a blend of Electromagnetic Field Theory. Quantum mechanics and Relativity. Indeed, it contains these theories as special cases and is so consistent with them to a large degree.

Meyl has not given a name to his field so I will just refer to it as ‘the field’.

In this first slide from his talk, two objects are in the influence of each other’s field and the field in between them is rather strong, being the sum of the two fields combined.

The field shares a property with Einstein’s Relativity in that it alters spatial measurements in a form of length contraction and will shrink distances according to the strength of the field.

The diagram depicts electric charge as opposed to gravity but the principle is identical. This is really the same diagram as above but the fields from the objects have been added together instead of superimposed so a composite field is shown.

The field lines indicate the direction of attraction and their density represents the field strength. There is obviously a higher field strength in between the objects.

Accordingly then, the distance between the objects is lessened and so the objects move closer together. Attempting to part the objects will meet with some resistance and this will be perceived as a (gravitational or electric) force.

There is no ‘space’ here, only the field which itself determines the property of size.

There is no ‘force’ here as such just a shrinking of dimension leading to ‘movement’.

Nor is there any mass or charge. All that happens is described as interactions of the field. Block out the objects with a fingertip and try to imagine that happens is that a whole bunch of field lines move and merge with each other according to Meyl’s field equation.

Charge and mass are merely hypothetical causes of fields and forces in classical physics, computational conveniences if you like. They are simply not needed for any description of field behaviour.as it is only the local field properties that matter, not the existence of a charge or mass maybe a million miles distant.

In the physics of Meyl, mass, charge and force are hypothetical (and illusory) results.

In this next slide, the field strength from the sun acting upon the Earth is seen to diminish according to the square of the distance from the sun so that the sunny side of the Earth is subjected to a slightly stronger field and accordingly, the lengths here are slightly shorter than on the dark side.

This means that the far side of the Earth is moving along a ‘longer’ path than the sunny side, resulting in a curved (circular or elliptic) path. (See YouTube: Big Bang is a Big Bluff says Meyl).

The orbit of the Earth here then is seen to arise from a purely geometric deformation of the field and there is no need for a gravitational ‘force’ or the idea of ‘inertia’ as is found in Newtonian theory.

Roger Joseph Boscovich (1711-1787) is credited by Meyl as having had these ideas many years ago. The idea that gravitational force diminishes as the square of the distance from the source was known and understood. Boscovich turned it around arguing that it is not the distance determining the field strength but the field strength determining the distance.

A consequence of this is that the hemisphere of the Earth in darkness will expand as it moves slightly further away from the sun and then contract back again as it turns to the light. The weaker field strength on the far side has allowed each and every atom to relax a bit and increase separation, resulting in an imperceptible increase in Earth size.

Attempts at measurement will fail as all measuring instruments are now expanded proportionately.

Evidence for length expansion comes from the Tamarack mines experiment where two vertical shafts were dug and the distance between them measured, The shafts did not appear to converge as one would expect, but instead diverged, with the distance between them seeming to actually increase. This is in contradiction to the laws of geometry but consistent with a diminishing field strength according to depth.

The Hafele – Keating experiment showed that clocks orbiting the Earth moved at different speeds to each other and again different to one stationed at the Earth’s surface. This is in contradiction to the Theory of Relativity but again consistent with Meyl’s Theory of Objectivity where the difference in centrifugal force experienced by the clocks counteracted the force of ‘gravity’ to some degree and affected the workings of the clocks.

What then is ‘matter’? The behaviour of the field only depends upon local properties of the field and no charge or mass is needed to sustain the field as it is self-perpetuating. Both mass and charge are said to be properties of matter but neither are needed in the field theory so where does that leave matter itself?

The behaviour of matter is defined by its properties of mass and charge and when these are taken away we have nothing left, nothing to see or measure, nothing to define it by! If this is the case then how can we even say it exists?

Matter is an illusion created by the field behaviour. If field lines converge to a point or if the field rolls up into a stable, spherical vortex, then it appears as a solid mass as we would expect and since we only ever measure charge or gravity at a distance we remain under the impression that there is something there.
